What We Believe
We are Christian. God desires to have a personal relationship with each of us through Jesus Christ.  We are Holiness.  God desires to fill us with His Holy Spirit and help us walk in Christ-likeness. We are Missional.  God desires for us to share Jesus Christ with the world.
Everything we believe here at Detroit First Church flows out of these core beliefs:
GOD

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus is our personal Lord and Savior and all who put their faith in Him will receive eternal life.

Matthew 3:16-17
Acts 2:32-36
Ephesians 2:13-18

JESUS CHRIST
We believe that the atonement of Jesus Christ is for every person who repents and believes.

Isaiah 53:5-6
John 2:1-2
Acts 4:10-12

HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that any person who is made new in Jesus Christ is called to holiness in character and conduct, which can only be done by the help of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit’s presence assures us of our relationship with Christ. He guides believers into all truth and exalts Christ. He convicts people of their sin, God’s righteousness, and the coming judgment. He comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and makes us more like Christ.

1 Thessalonians 3:12-13
Peter 1:14-19
Corinthians 6:14-7:1
THE BIBLE
We believe that the Bible is God’s inspired Word and contains all truth regarding Spirit led living necessary for Salvation. Because it was inspired by God, the Bible is truth and is completely relevant to our daily lives.

2 Timothy 3:16-17
Romans 8:12-14
Galatians 5:16-24

THE CHURCH
The Church is a local community of baptized believers unified through faith in Christ. It is committed to the teachings of Christ and obeying all of His commands. It seeks to bring the Gospel to the world. The Church works together in love and unity, intent on the ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ.
We believe that the purpose of the church is to worship God by being a disciple of Jesus who makes disciples through private disciplines, practical teaching, and personal ministry.

John 17:14-26
Acts 2:32-47
